风急天高猿猴啼叫显得十分悲哀,水清沙白的河洲上有鸟儿在盘旋。
The wind is strong and the sky is high the cries of monkeys sound very sad and birds are hovering above the clear water and white sand of the river island.
无边无际的树木萧萧地飘下落叶,望不到头的长江水滚滚奔腾而来。
Endless trees are rustling with falling leaves and the endless Yangtze River is rushing towards us.
悲对秋景感慨万里漂泊常年为客,一生当中疾病缠身今日独上高台。
Feeling deeply moved by the autumn scenery I have been drifting for thousands of miles as a wanderer all year round. Throughout my life I have been plagued by illness and today I am alone on this high platform.
历尽了艰难苦恨白发长满了双鬓,衰颓满心偏又暂停了浇愁的酒杯。
Having experienced hardships and bitter regrets my white hair has grown on both temples. I am full of decline and despair but I have temporarily stopped pouring the cup of sorrow.
注释:
诗题一作《九日登高》。古代农历九月九日有登高习俗。选自《杜诗详注》。作于唐代宗大历二年(767)秋天的重阳节。
The title of the poem is also known as Climbing on the Ninth Day. In ancient times there was a custom of climbing on the ninth day of the ninth lunar month. Selected from Detailed Annotations of Du Shi. It was written during the Chong Yang Festival in the autumn of the second year of Tang Dynasty's Dali reign (767).
猿啸哀:猿凄厉的叫声。《水经注·江水》引民谣云:“巴东三峡巫峡长,猿鸣三声泪沾裳。”

繁霜鬓:增多了白发,如鬓边着霜雪。繁,这里作动词,增多。
Frosty temples: an increase in white hair like frost on the temples. 繁 is used as a verb here meaning to increase.
潦倒:衰颓,失意。这里指衰老多病,志不得伸。
Down and out: decline frustration. Here it refers to being old and sick with unfulfilled aspirations.
新停:刚刚停止。杜甫晚年因病戒酒,所以说“新停”。
Just stopped: just stopped. Du Fu quit drinking due to illness in his later years so he said just stopped.
