秋水盛涨几乎与岸平，水天含混迷茫与天空浑然一体。
The autumn water rises almost level with the shore the water and sky are hazy and blend together.
云梦大泽水气蒸腾白白茫茫，波涛汹涌似乎把岳阳城撼动。
The water vapor of Yunmeng Daze rises creating a vast expanse of white mist and the waves surge as if shaking the city of Yueyang.
想要渡水却没有船只，闲居不仕，有愧于圣明天子。
I want to cross the water but there is no boat living in leisure without serving feeling ashamed in front of the wise emperor.
坐看垂钓之人多么悠闲自在，可惜只能空怀一片羡鱼之情。
Sitting and watching the leisurely fishermen I can only lament the feeling of envy for the fish.
注释：
洞庭湖：中国第二大淡水湖，在今湖南省北部。张丞相：指张九龄，唐玄宗时宰相。
Dongting Lake: the second largest freshwater lake in China located in the northern part of Hunan Province. Prime Minister Zhang: refers to Zhang Jiuling the prime minister during the reign of Emperor Xuanzong of Tang Dynasty.
涵虚：包含天空，指天空倒映在水中。涵：包容。虚：虚空，空间。
Hanxu: containing the sky referring to the reflection of the sky in the water. Han: contain. Xu: emptiness space.
混太清：与天混为一体。太清：指天空。
Hun Taiqing: blending with the sky. Taiqing: refers to the sky.
气蒸云梦泽，波撼岳阳城：云梦大泽水汽蒸腾，洞庭湖的波涛摇撼着岳阳城。云梦泽：古代云梦泽分为云泽和梦泽，指湖北南部、湖南北部一带低洼地区。洞庭湖是它南部的一角。
The water vapor of Yunmeng Daze rises and the waves of Dongting Lake shake the city of Yueyang. Yunmeng Daze: in ancient times Yunmeng Daze was divided into Yunze and Mengze referring to the low-lying areas in the southern part of Hubei Province and the northern part of Hunan Province. Dongting Lake is a part of it.

欲济无舟楫：想渡湖而没有船只，比喻想做官而无人引荐。济：渡。

端居耻圣明：生在太平盛世自己却闲居在家，因此感到羞愧。
Living in a peaceful and prosperous era but staying idle at home feeling ashamed.

Duanju: living in leisure.
圣明：指太平盛世，古时认为皇帝圣明，社会就会安定。
Shengming: refers to a peaceful and prosperous era in ancient times it was believed that if the emperor was wise the society would be stable.
坐观：一作“徒怜”。
