以前就听说洞庭湖波澜壮阔，今日终于如愿登上岳阳楼。
I have heard before about the magnificent waves of Dongting Lake and today I finally fulfill my wish to climb Yueyang Tower.
浩瀚的湖水把吴楚两地分隔开来，整个天地仿似在湖中日夜浮动。
The vast lake water separates the regions of Wu and Chu and it seems as if the whole world is floating day and night in the lake.
亲朋好友们音信全无，年老多病只有一只船孤零零的陪伴自己。
There is no news from my relatives and friends and in my old age and illness I am only accompanied by a lonely boat.
关山以北战争烽火仍未止息，凭栏遥望胸怀家国泪水横流。
North of the mountains the flames of war are still raging and as I lean on the railing tears flow for my country and home.
注释：
洞庭水：即洞庭湖，在今湖南北部，长江南岸，是中国第二淡水湖。
Dongting water: Referring to Dongting Lake located in the northern part of present-day Hunan Province on the south bank of the Yangtze River it is the second largest freshwater lake in China.
岳阳楼：即岳阳城西门楼，在湖南省岳阳市，下临洞庭湖，为游览胜地。
Yueyang Tower: Referring to the west gate tower of Yueyang City located in Yueyang City Hunan Province overlooking Dongting Lake it is a popular tourist destination.
吴楚句：吴楚两地在我国东南。
Wu and Chu: Referring to the regions of Wu and Chu in the southeast of China.
坼（chè）：分裂。
