译文：I heard that to the south of the capital city there is a place where mountains gather. The mountains extend from east to west and reach the seaside and their size is difficult to fully understand. Even the books on mountain classics and geography are vague and unreliable. I want to use words and sentences to outline the outline of Zhongnan Mountain in a poem but I always worry about missing out on important details and not being comprehensive enough. I don't want to stop writing so I will briefly describe the scenes I have experienced and seen. I once climbed a high mound and looked into the distance seeing mountain peaks gathering together like goat horns. When the weather is clear the corners of the mountains can be seen everywhere and the mountain ranges are like broken brocade. The mist in the mountains permeates everywhere without barriers. Although there is no wind the mountain air is scattered everywhere condensing into a liquid and nourishing the growth of plants. The clouds hang between the mountains condensing on a plane and the peaks gradually appear above the clouds. The distant mountains are like long eyebrows floating in the sky with a dense and green color as if just painted. The independent peaks support the earth like pillars as if a giant bird bathing in the sea has opened its mouth. The spring sunlight quietly shines on the earth and all things are full of vitality and plants are budding and blooming. Although the tall mountains are majestic they become soft and warm like a slightly drunk person when covered with green plants. In the heat of summer the trees in the mountains flourish and the dense shade covers the earth. The gods in the mountains breathe out clouds and the flying clouds and mist weave the world. In autumn frost and dew like to bully nature and the high mountains become clear and independent. The thin peaks overlap and rise straight into the sky with a solemn momentum. Although the winter scenery is gloomy and dark the pure white ice and snow make Zhongnan Mountain beautiful and flawless. The morning sun shines on the tall mountains as if the height and length of the mountain shape have a distance of billions of feet. The clarity and darkness of Zhongnan Mountain change in an instant without any fixed rules. The majestic and independent Taibai Mountain in the southwest corner rises abruptly and its posture is unmatched by any other peak. As a barrier to the capital city it matches the virtue and fortune of the capital city and it is located in the middle of the Qinling Mountains to the south of the imperial capital.
