九月九日茱萸成熟,插鬓时发现鬓发已经白了许多,伤心!
On the ninth day of September the dogwood berries ripen. When I insert them into my hair I find that my hair has turned much whiter. I feel sad!
登高瞭望高山大海,满目凄凉,为古昔之人悲哀。
I climb to a high place and look out at the mountains and the sea. The sight is desolate and I feel sorrow for the people of ancient times.
远访为吊念屈原而投沙之人,因为我也是逃名隐逸之客。
I visit from afar to pay tribute to Qu Yuan and to join the group of people who throw sand into the river. It is because I am also a recluse who seeks anonymity.
故交中还有谁在?独有崔亭伯崔侍御你了。
Among my old friends who is still around? Only Cui Tingbo and Cui Shiyu are left.
重阳节到了也不知道,放船载酒任水漂流。
The Double Ninth Festival has arrived but I didn't even realize it. I let a boat carry wine and let it drift on the water.
我手持一枝菊花,和二千石的太守调笑。
I hold a chrysanthemum in my hand and joke with the magistrate who owns two thousand stones of grain.
日暮时分头戴头巾归岸,传呼之声充满阡陌。
At dusk I return to the shore wearing a headscarf. The sound of calling fills the streets and lanes.
一双白鹿拉着红色官车,后面宾客光辉显赫。
A pair of white deer pulls a red official carriage and behind it are distinguished guests shining brightly.
夫子你坐在其中,你我就像相隔云霄。
Master you sit among them and it feels like we are separated by the sky.
良辰与美景,白白地错过,没有喝到酒,没有听歌舞。
We miss out on the good times and beautiful scenery without drinking wine or listening to music and dance.
晚上我从南峰归来,女萝间的明月落下水壁。
In the evening I return from the southern peak and the moon falls between the vines into the water.
再登上郡楼瞭望,古松的颜色也因寒更绿。
I climb up to the county building again and look out. The color of the ancient pine trees becomes greener due to the cold.
你我咫尺之间,却不可相亲,我好像一只被抛弃的鞋子。
We are so close to each other yet we cannot meet. I feel like a discarded shoe.
九卿高官从朝廷而来,乘着五马豪华大车。
The high-ranking officials from the court come riding in luxurious carriages pulled by five horses.
拂晓朱门列戟,撩开帏帐就看见碧嶂一排排。
At dawn the gates are adorned with spears. When the curtains are lifted rows of green mountains come into view.
登高遥望远海,招集到许多英才。
Climbing to a high place I gaze at the distant sea and gather many talented individuals.
紫绶官员欢情融洽,黄花插鬓逸兴飞。
The officials wearing purple silk are in a harmonious and joyful mood with yellow flowers inserted in their hair showing their carefree spirits.
青山好像图画,流溪仿佛镜中回旋。
The green mountains look like paintings and the flowing streams seem to swirl in a mirror.
遥羡你在重阳节的佳作,现在应该过了戏马台吧。
I envy your excellent works during the Double Ninth Festival. You must have already enjoyed the horse racing stage.

⑴因为逃名客:“逃名”一作“名山”。
The phrase 逃名 can also be interpreted as 名山 (famous mountain).
⑵山从图上见:“从”一作“依”。
The mountains can be seen from the picture and 从 can also be interpreted as 依 (rely on).
⑶溪即镜中回:“即”一作“向”。
The stream reflects back like a mirror and 即 can also be interpreted as 向 (towards).
