Translation:
In the thoughts of his own journey the poet's longing for autumn morning becomes even stronger and he indulges in the pleasure of sightseeing and admiring. Seeing the rushing river and the crumbling riverbank he feels even more sorrowful about his long-term wandering. He sees the rushing river flowing away the sun setting behind the western mountains and the afterglow shining. The desolate forest is filled with falling leaves and the mournful birds cry sadly. As a banished traveler how can he not feel sorrow when seeing these scenes? Fortunately I have realized the subtle essence of enduring and lasting. Since I have embraced the simple heart of the ancient Three Emperors and let nature take its course I do not care about the ridicule of the later generations. Witnessing the rushing river of Yan Zise I think of the story of Ren Guo's son fishing in the East Sea. Who says that the past and the present are different? As long as we all have a heart that appreciates beauty even if the times are distant we can still achieve harmony and unity.
