扬子江边杨柳青青春意正浓,漫天飞扬的杨花使渡江之人非常的愁烦。
On the banks of the Yangtze River the willows are green and full of youthful vigor. The floating willow catkins in the air make the people crossing the river very worried.
微风轻拂,笛声幽咽,离亭渐渐染上暮色,你就要南下潇湘我却奔向西秦。
A gentle breeze brushes by and the sound of the flute is faint. The inn gradually takes on the color of dusk. You are about to head south to the Xiang River while I am rushing towards the western Qin.
注释:
淮(huái)上:扬州。淮:淮水。
Huai (huái) Shang: Yangzhou. Huai: Huai River.
扬子江:长江在江苏镇江、扬州一带的干流,古称扬子江。
Yangtze River: The main stream of the Yangtze River in the area of Zhenjiang and Yangzhou in Jiangsu Province formerly known as the Yangtze River.
杨柳:“柳”与“留”谐音,表示挽留之意。
Willows: The character 柳 sounds similar to the character 留 indicating the meaning of retention.
杨花:柳絮。愁杀:愁绪满怀。杀,形容愁的程度之深。
Willow catkins: Floating willow fluff. Chou Sha: Full of worries. 杀 is used to describe the depth of sorrow.
风笛:风中传来的笛声。
Wind flute: The sound of a flute coming from the wind.
离亭:驿亭。亭是古代路旁供人休息的地方,人们常在此送别,所以称为“离亭”。
Li Ting: An inn. Ting is a place for people to rest by the road in ancient times. People often bid farewell here so it is called 离亭.
潇湘(xiāo xiāng):指今湖南一带。
Xiao Xiang: Refers to the area of present-day Hunan.
秦:指当时的都城长安。在今陕西境内。
Qin: Refers to the capital city of Chang'an at that time located in present-day Shaanxi.
