In the ancient land of the Central Plains many vigorous grasses grow. These grasses are as strong as arrow bamboo and their flowers are as abundant as rice ears. Dewdrops sprinkle between the leaves and even the cold wind in October cannot knock them down. The vigorous grass does not grow in the courtyard of the noble families nor on the graves of treacherous ministers. The grass roots grow hundreds of feet deep in the soil whether withered or lush they always protect the loyal souls. I asked why the loyal ministers died and it turned out that they were loyal and unyielding Han patriots. Their bones are buried in the ground and their blood nourishes the vigorous grass. The green corpse fluid flickers everywhere and a bloody wind rises in the air. When the weather is clear butterflies dance on the south side of the mountain and when it rains the qilin weeps on the north side of the mountain. The vigorous grass seems to sway in the wind as if expressing the soldiers' sorrow and resentment. Who can I tell my worries to? Last night the east wind brought the sound of enemy drums but we only have the skulls of the patriots shaking their heads. My body is not worth cherishing but I am worried about the loss of our country.
注释：
中原：黄河流域，这里泛指中国。
箭竹：竹子的一种，高度不超过一丈，节间三尺，坚硬如箭，江南的山上都有，会稽所产的最好。
白露：秋天的露水。
离离：形容露珠晶莹闪动的样子。
到：通“倒”。
萋萋：草木茂盛的样子，这里指劲草。
王孙：泛指贵族子孙。
青青：青色；一说，草木茂盛的样子，也作“菁菁”。
谗佞（nìng）坟：指奸臣的坟墓。谗指说别人坏话，佞指用花言巧语谄媚人。谄佞指诬陷谄媚。
游根：须根。
尺：亦称“市尺”，一尺等于十寸。这里采用夸张手法。
枯荣：指劲草无论是枯黄还是繁茂都是萦绕护卫着忠魂的。荣指草木茂盛。
元：通“原”。士是对男子的美称。
翠光：青绿色的光泽，这里指尸体腐败后所分解出来的绿色液状体。
潋滟（liàn yàn）：本义为水波闪动的样子，这里用以形容绿色尸液的闪动。
