金风萧瑟，楚木凋零，寒气凛冽。
The golden wind blows the Chu trees wither and the cold air is freezing.
秋天寥廓，红谢绿潜，万物蛰藏。
Autumn is vast red leaves fall green hides and all things hibernate.
胡燕也要回到南方去了，双双在屋檐下呢喃，与主人告别。
The swallows are also returning to the south chirping under the eaves bidding farewell to their master.
他们与主人恋恋不舍，三飞四回头，眼光里充满留恋。
They are reluctant to leave their master flying back and forth their eyes filled with nostalgia.
难道他们不喜欢华美的屋子和精巧的珠帘？但是，终归要飞上回南方的路。
Don't they like the beautiful house and exquisite pearl curtains? But in the end they have to fly back to the south.
我很惭愧，我连胡燕都不如，远离妻子来秋浦已经一年多了。
I am ashamed I am not even as good as the swallows. I have been away from my wife in Qiupu for more than a year.
多少思念，多少感叹，泪下如雨，浸湿糨糊，信不能封缄。
So much longing so many sighs tears flow like rain wetting the paper the letter cannot be sealed.
注释：
秋浦：地名，在今安徽贵池县西。归燕：指南归的燕子。寄内：寄给妻子。内：指妻子。
Qiupu: a place name located in the west of Guichi County Anhui Province. 归燕: refers to the swallows returning to the south. 寄内: sent to my wife. 内: refers to my wife.
霜凋：秋霜降落，使花草树木凋谢。楚关：楚地的关隘要道。安徽古为楚地，所以作者以楚关来代指秋浦。
霜凋: the falling of autumn frost causing flowers plants and trees to wither. 楚关: the important passageway in the Chu region. In ancient times Anhui was part of the Chu region so the author uses 楚关 to refer to Qiupu.
杀气：指寒气。严：严厉，严重。
杀气: refers to the cold air. 严: severe serious.
寥寥：广阔的天空。金天：秋天的别名。陈子昂诗云：“金天方肃杀，白露始专征。”廓：广大，空阔。
寥寥: vast sky. 金天: another name for autumn. As Chen Ziang's poem says The golden sky is solemn and the white dew begins to conquer. 廓: vast spacious.
婉婉：柔美卷曲的样子。绿红：指枝叶繁茂碧绿，红花烂漫的草木。潜：藏，尽。

胡燕：燕子的一种，胸前白质黑章，巢悬于大屋两榱间。
