Life's journey spans thousands of miles and the only thing that is truly disheartening is parting ways.
How did you end up in such a state? The mountains are no longer mountains the water is no longer water life is no longer life and death is no longer death.
At the age of thirteen you had already studied the classics and history. You were born and raised in a wealthy family in Jiangnan.
Your poetry and prose were unmatched by others but like a flawless jade you were tarnished by flies suffering from this unjust accusation.
Bound and taken away even presenting a petition to the emperor cannot clear your name.
In the distant borderlands travelers are cut off amidst the countless mountains. Even the escorts shed tears so what can the exiled rely on?
The escorts are afraid they won't be able to return and this time I am surely done for.
What's terrifying is that in August snowflakes fall on the Dragon Sand Dunes and the snow is so deep that it covers the waist of camels and the ears of horses.
The remnants of the border wars are nothing but piles of white bones and only a few boats can successfully cross the Heishui River.
Fearful of encountering tigers in front and the arrival of fierce beasts behind surviving in an earthen hole is like being an ant.
There are also large fish with no tails in the mountains and their scales become like raindrops.
The sun and moon reverse and sink into the depths of the sea and half of what is seen during the day is human and half is ghost.
Alas how sorrowful! Giving birth to an intelligent boy brings great joy and Cangjie the creator of writing must have cried at night for a reason. Suffering and disasters begin with reading books haven't you seen our Wu Jizi?

Annotations:
Wu Jizi: Wu Zhaoqian the third eldest among his brothers hence called Jizi. This also alludes to the story of Wu Jizha the youngest son of King Wu of Wu indicating Wu Zhaoqian's noble background and outstanding talent. Gongyang Zhuan: Jizi is weak but talented.
Anran Xiaohan: feeling disheartened as if the soul has left the body.
Chang Wanqi: born and raised in a wealthy family.
Wanqi: precious silk fabric.
Ci Fu Pianpian: describes someone's literary talent and elegance.
Bai Bi Qingying: a flawless jade stone tainted by flies referring to suffering from an unjust accusation. Chen Ziang's poem: A fly's touch a white wall becomes a grievance. Qingying: a type of fly. Book of Songs · Qingying: Buzzing flies stopping at the fence how can a younger gentleman not believe slanderous words. Later Qingying was used to metaphorically refer to slanderous words. Seen Paida: being excluded and slandered.
Shangshu Nan Zili: even presenting a petition to the emperor cannot clear one's name.
Li: to present reasons and defend oneself against accusations.
