The emperor resides in the Palace of the Unending while his wives and concubines come to tidy up his clothes.

Now that I have not received the emperor's favor in the Purple Palace how can I dare to touch the golden bed?

Without the emperor's decree even if a flood comes I dare not act recklessly. If the emperor encounters danger I would sacrifice my life to protect him just like Lady Feng Jieyu who protected the emperor from the bear.

In my humble position I serve the sun and moon floating lightly like the glow of a firefly.

I hope that when you gather the leaves of the fengfei grass you will not abandon its leaves just because its roots are unsightly.
