Being a guest in a foreign land the end of the year is approaching; on the frontlines of the border the war is still ongoing.
警报传来，敌人进犯雪岭；军鼓号角，响声振动江城。
An alarm sounds the enemy invades the Snow Ridge; the sound of drums and horns resonates through the city.
前方将士，日夜流血牺牲；朝廷大员，可有一人请缨？
The soldiers in the front line bleed and sacrifice day and night; among the high-ranking officials is there anyone willing to volunteer?
国难当头，岂敢吝惜性命；报效无路，空有一片豪情！
With the country facing difficulties how can one be reluctant to sacrifice their life? There is no way to repay only a strong sense of loyalty!
注释：
岁暮：指唐代宗广德元年（763）年底。
At the end of the year: Refers to the end of the first year of Guangde in the Tang Dynasty (763).
远为客：指杜甫自己远为客。
Being a guest in a foreign land: Refers to Du Fu being away from home.
边隅：边疆地区，指被吐蕃扰袭或攻陷的陇蜀一带。
Border areas: Refers to the border areas that were attacked or occupied by the Tubo Kingdom in the Longshu region.
雪岭：松潘县南雪栏山。
Snow Ridge: Refers to the Xuelan Mountain in the south of Songpan County.
