Ten-year-old girl goes on an outing to the countryside imagining lotus flowers as her dress.
At the age of twelve she starts learning to play the zither and the silver armor on her fingers has never been taken off.
At the age of fourteen she avoids meeting men even her closest relatives. At this time she may be guessing when she will get married.
At the age of fifteen she turns her back to the swing and cries in the spring breeze fearing the passing of spring.
Hidden away one does not feel tired from sightseeing. When inviting guests during the hot autumn no one invites me.
I walk back and forth in the green bamboo forest feeling melancholy and longing. The pond water is clear but it is still lonely and deserted.
The flowers in the wild are finally soaked and the butterflies in the wind pretend to be charming.
Various worries cannot be resolved even if you and I walk hand in hand I still feel bored and dull.

偷：指羞涩，怕人看见。
长眉：古以纤长之眉为美，《古今注》：“魏宫人好画长眉。”
踏青：《月令粹编》引《秦中岁时记》：“上巳赐宴曲江，都人士于江头禊饮，践踏青草，谓之踏青履。”
芙蓉：荷花。《离骚》：“集芙蓉以为裳。”裙衩：下端开口的衣裙。
筝（zhēng）：乐器，十三弦。
银甲：银制假指甲，弹筝用具。
六亲：本指最亲密的亲属，这里指男性亲属。
悬知：猜想。
泣春风：在春风中哭泣，怕春天的消逝。
背面：背着女伴。秋千下：女伴在高兴地打秋千。
