高耸入云的铁瓮城已近青天,凌云的缥缈高楼似与天相连。
The towering iron barrel city reaches the blue sky and the ethereal high buildings seem to be connected to the sky.
三峡的江声似乎流入我笔底,六朝的帆影好像映落我杯前。
The sound of the Three Gorges seems to flow into the tip of my pen and the sails of the Six Dynasties seem to be reflected in front of my cup.
几番呜咽的画角催落着红日,远处幽静的沧洲袅起了白烟。
The mournful sound of the horn hastens the setting sun and in the distance the quiet Cangzhou rises with white smoke.
忽忆起赏心美景究竟在何处?往事如烟那春风秋月已茫然。
Suddenly I remember where the beautiful scenery that pleases my heart is. The past is like smoke and the spring breeze and autumn moon have become vague.
注释:
望海搂:旧址在江苏镇江城内,楼有蔡襄题字“望海”,后改名为连沧观,今不存。
Wanghai Lou: The old site is located in the city of Zhenjiang Jiangsu Province. The building was inscribed with the words Wanghai by Cai Xiang and later renamed Liancang Guan but it no longer exists.
云间铁瓮:谓铁瓮城高入云间。据《丹徒县志》,县城(今镇江)的子城又叫铁瓮城,相传为孙权所建。
Iron barrel in the clouds: It means that the iron barrel city is high in the clouds. According to the Annals of Dantu County the sub-city of the county (now Zhenjiang) is also called the iron barrel city which is said to have been built by Sun Quan.
缥缈:隐隐约约若有若无之状。飞楼:形容楼高凌空的样子。
Piaomiao: Vague and indistinct. Feilou: Describes the appearance of a tall building soaring into the sky.
“三峡”句:意谓眼前的江景引起我的诗兴,似乎可以听到三峡的江声。底:《宋诗纪事补遗》、《湖北诗征传略》作“是”。有其他版本记作”下“。
Three Gorges sentence: It means that the river scenery in front of me has aroused my poetic inspiration and it seems that I can hear the sound of the Three Gorges. Di: In Supplement to the Records of Song Poetry and Brief Introduction to Hubei Poetry Expedition it is written as shi. There are other versions that record it as xia.
“六朝”句:意谓面对景色,引起了怀古之情,似乎六朝时的帆影也映落在酒杯之前。 六朝,吴、东晋、宋、齐、梁、陈,史称六朝。
Six Dynasties sentence: It means that facing the scenery it has aroused a feeling of nostalgia and it seems that the sails of the Six Dynasties are also reflected in front of the wine cup. The Six Dynasties refers to the Wu Eastern Jin Song Qi Liang and Chen dynasties in history.
画角:古代以皮革或竹木制成的管乐器,声音哀厉高亢,多在军中使用,因外加彩绘而得名。形如竹筒,出自西羌。
Huajiao: An ancient musical instrument made of leather or bamboo with a mournful and high-pitched sound mostly used in the military named for its painted appearance. It is shaped like a bamboo tube and originated from the Western Qiang people.
沧洲:滨水的地方,古称隐者所居。此指镇江江边某幽僻之处。白烟:指水气蒙蒙,远望有如白烟。
Cangzhou: A place by the water anciently known as the residence of hermits. Here it refers to a secluded place by the river in Zhenjiang. Baiyan: Refers to the misty water vapor which looks like white smoke from a distance.
是:《宋诗纪事补遗》、《湖北诗征传略》作“是”。有其他版本记作”在“。
Shi: In Supplement to the Records of Song Poetry and Brief Introduction to Hubei Poetry Expedition it is written as shi. There are other versions that record it as zai.
