Translation:
In the deep and secluded courtyard at night the pond is quiet and serene. I can't sleep so I hang the curtains on the curtain hooks. The sight that meets my eyes is the shadow of pear blossoms on the trees. I hold the strings of the ancient zither with my fingers but in the darkness I can't even touch the zither's soundboard let alone tune the notes. The incense in the censer has burned out and I'm too lazy to add more fragrance. Even sitting next to the screen I can still feel the coldness inside the room.
The phoenix-shaped hairpin leans to one side of my hair and the cicada-shaped sideburns are messy and disheveled. The color of the makeup on my haggard face immediately fades and I'm too lazy to look in the mirror. Under the moon the cuckoo's cries urge the return and unintentionally the beautiful springtime of the year easily comes to an end.
