cháng长xī溪yáng杨shēng声bó伯diǎn典cháng长shā沙jí楫zhào棹，jū居bīn濒xiāng湘jiāng江，chuāng窗jiān间suǒ所jiàn见，rú如yàn燕gōng公、guō郭xī熙huà画tú图，wò卧qǐ起yōu幽shì适。bǐng丙wǔ午qī七yuè月jì既wàng望，shēng声bó伯yuē约yǔ予yǔ与zhào赵jǐng景lǔ鲁、jǐng景wàng望、xiāo萧hé和fù父、yù裕fù父、shí时fù父、gōng恭fù父，dà大zhōu舟fú浮xiāng湘，fàng放hū乎zhōng中liú流，shān山shuǐ水kōng空hán寒，yān烟yuè月jiāo交yìng映，qī凄rán然qí其weí为qiū秋yě也。zuò坐kè客jiē皆xiǎo小guàn冠綀fú服，huò或dàn弹qín琴，huò或hào浩gē歌，huò或zì自zhuó酌，huò或yuán援bǐ笔sōu搜jù句。yǔ予dù度cǐ此qǔ曲，jí即niàn念nú奴jiāo娇zhī之gé鬲zhǐ指shēng声yě也，yú于shuāng双diào调zhōng中chuī吹zhī之。gé鬲zhǐ指yì亦weì谓zhī之“guò过qiāng腔”，jiàn见cháo晁wú无jiù咎jí集。fán凡néng能chuī吹zhú竹zhě者，biàn便néng能guò过qiāng腔yě也。wǔ五hú湖jiù旧yuē约，wèn问jīng经nián年dǐ底shì事，cháng长fù负qīng清jǐng景？míng暝rù入xī西shān山，jiàn渐huàn唤wǒ我，yī一yè叶yí夷yóu犹chéng乘xìng兴。juàn倦wǎng网dū都shōu收，guī归qín禽shí时dù度，yuè月shàng上tīng汀zhōu洲lěng冷。zhōng中liú流róng容yǔ与，huà画ráo桡bù不diǎn点qīng清jìng镜。

原文： 长溪杨声伯典长沙楫棹，居濒湘江，窗间所见，如燕公、郭熙画图，卧起幽适。丙午七月既望，声伯约予与赵景鲁、景望、萧和父、裕父、时父、恭父，大舟浮湘，放乎中流，山水空寒，烟月交映，凄然其为秋也。坐客皆小冠綀服，或弹琴，或浩歌，或自酌，或援笔搜句。予度此曲，即念奴娇之鬲指声也，于双调中吹之。鬲指亦谓之“过腔”，见晁无咎集。凡能吹竹者，便能过腔也。五湖旧约，问经年底事，长负清景？暝入西山，渐唤我，一叶夷犹乘兴。倦网都收，归禽时度，月上汀洲冷。中流容与，画桡不点清镜。
谁解唤起湘灵，烟鬟雾鬓，理哀弦鸿阵。玉麈谈玄，叹坐客、多少风流名胜。暗柳萧萧，飞星冉冉，夜久知秋信。鲈鱼应好，旧家乐事谁省。

Translation:
Yang Shengbo a resident of Changxi holds a position in Changsha overseeing the boats on the water. He lives in a place near the Xiang River and when he looks out of the window the scenery is as beautiful as the landscape paintings of Yan Gong and Guo Xi. His daily life is peaceful and elegant. On the 16th day of the seventh month in the year of Bingwu Yang Shengbo invited me Zhao Jinglu Jing Wang Xiao Hepu Yu Fu Shi Fu and Gong Fu to take a large boat and travel together on the Xiang River. When we reached the center of the river we saw the vast wilderness and the clear and cold river water. The smoke and moonlight reflected each other creating a desolate autumn scene. The guests on the boat wore small hats and cloth clothes some played the qin some sang some drank wine and some wrote poetry. I composed this piece which is a variation of the Nian Nu Jiao melody played in a double tone. The variation is also called Guo Qiang and can be found in Chao Wujiu's collection of lyrics. Anyone who can play the bamboo flute can play this variation.
We had made a previous appointment at Taihu Lake but I asked what had happened this year that prevented me from fulfilling my wish and enjoying this beautiful scenery for a long time. The sun set behind the Western Mountains and gradually I heard someone calling me. Everyone sat leisurely on the boat. The tired fishermen had mostly returned home and the water birds returned to their nests on time. The sandbars under the moonlight were quiet. When the boat reached the middle of the river it became even more relaxed and calm. People stopped rowing and the water surface became as clear as a mirror.
Who can awaken the goddess of the Xiang River with her flowing hair like mist and smoke plucking the strings of the qin and playing a melancholic melody? The guests on the boat talked and sighed realizing that everyone present was a refined and elegant person. The wind blew and the willow branches made a rustling sound. The stars slowly fell from the night sky and only in the deep night did we realize that it was already autumn. Thinking of the delicious food and joyful moments in my hometown who would understand them now?
Annotation:
Xiangyue: A famous tune Jiang Kui's own annotation: I consider this tune to be the 'Gu Qiang Sheng' of 'Nian Nu Jiao' and it is played in a double tone. The double tone consists of one hundred characters with ten lines in each section and four oblique tones in each line.
Changxi: An ancient county name located in the south of present-day Xiapu County Zhejiang Province. Yang Shengbo: A resident of Changxi a close friend of Jiang Kui his life is unknown. Dian Changsha Ji Zhou: Holds the position of overseeing the boats on the water in Changsha.
Xiang River: A river name. Originating from Guangxi Province and flowing into Hunan Province it is the largest river in Hunan Province.
Yan Gong: During the Song Dynasty there was a painter named Yan Wengui a native of Wuxing (now Huzhou Zhejiang Province) who was skilled in landscape painting as recorded in Liu Daochun's Record of Famous Paintings of the Song Dynasty. There was also Yan Su a native of Yidu (now Yidu Shandong Province) who was skilled in painting landscapes and cold forests as recorded in the History of the Song Dynasty and the Illustrated Compendium of Paintings.
Guo Xi: A painter from the Five Dynasties and Northern Song Dynasty skilled in painting landscapes and cold forests as seen in the Xuanhe Painting Catalogue.
